United Way of Hunterdon County Introduces Hunterdon Connect, a New Hyper-Local Community Resource Hub
Resources. Opportunities. Community. All in one place.

FLEMINGTON, N.J. — September 16, 2026 — United Way of Hunterdon County has unveiled Hunterdon Connect, a new resource directory aimed at simplifying the process for Hunterdon County residents, families, nonprofits and service providers to locate and engage with dependable local services.
Backed by Brightspeed, Hunterdon Connect consolidates details about local services, programs and opportunities into one convenient hub—assisting individuals in finding nearby resources and enabling community groups to offer more effective, well-informed referrals.
The initiative was developed in response to a hurdle especially prevalent in rural and smaller areas: services may exist, yet pinpointing the right organization—and figuring out where to begin—can prove challenging.
“In a place like Hunterdon County, individuals often approach an organization seeking help with one concern, but their underlying needs may be far more intricate,” said Jennifer Thompson, CEO of United Way of Hunterdon County. “They might require food aid, transportation, mental health services, assistance with a utility bill, or simply guidance on who to contact next. Hunterdon Connect ensures the response isn’t just, ‘Here’s a number to call.’ It’s about linking people to the appropriate local resource and fostering the chance for a smooth handoff.”
Hunterdon Connect caters to both residents in need and the professionals who assist them daily—including nonprofit staff, case workers, school staff, healthcare providers, municipal workers, faith-based groups and other trusted community allies.
The platform will offer a centralized, continuously updated collection of hyper-local resources, enabling organizations to manage and refresh their details so that referral sources have access to accurate information about programs and services.
National and statewide resource networks, such as 211, remain vital entry points for information and support. Hunterdon Connect aims to complement these systems by honing in on the organizations, programs and connections available specifically within Hunterdon County.
“Broad resource networks are essential, but local guidance also plays a key role,” Thompson said. “Often, the difference between getting help and giving up is someone saying, ‘I’m familiar with that organization. Let me assist you in connecting.’ Hunterdon Connect offers our community another avenue to facilitate those connections more easily, swiftly and personally.”
This localized strategy is particularly crucial in rural regions, where transportation challenges, limited provider options and physical distances can heighten the difficulty of accessing support.
“At Brightspeed, we fundamentally see the internet as more than just technology—it’s a link that unites people,” said Sabrina Anderson, Brightspeed local marketing manager. “By offering connectivity and backing local efforts like Hunterdon Connect, we aim to open doors and foster stronger ties within Hunterdon County. Brightspeed is committed to the investments that strengthen the communities we serve.”
Hunterdon Connect is also designed to bolster the network of organizations serving Hunterdon County. Participating nonprofits and community partners will have the ability to share details about their offerings and keep their listings up to date, resulting in a resource that grows more robust with increased participation.
“Every organization in our community encounters people who may need services it doesn’t offer,” said Anderson. “Having a single, reliable local hub where residents can quickly locate another resource—and facilitate that connection—will be essential to their success. Hunterdon Connect enables all of us to assist residents as a unified community rather than as separate entities.”
United Way of Hunterdon County views the platform as more than just a directory. It represents a component of a wider initiative to enhance community navigation, collaboration and access to aid across the county.
“We envision Hunterdon Connect becoming something that the whole community takes ownership of,” Thompson added. “For a resident seeking help, it should be a starting point. For a case manager supporting a family, it should be a reliable tool. And for a nonprofit offering a service, it should be a venue to ensure the community knows how to reach you. The objective is straightforward: no matter where someone enters our community network, we want a clear path forward.”
“Hunterdon Helpline is delighted to collaborate with United Way of Hunterdon County to share resources, fortify connections, and broaden access to compassion, information and support throughout our area,” said Amy Horton, Executive Director of Hunterdon Helpline
Community organizations within Hunterdon County are urged to join Hunterdon Connect and assist in keeping their program and service details accurate and current.
