Field teams and outside sellers can verify live rates, stock levels, and submit purchases through chat, voice, or email — no API credentials required
Our view is that within months, not years, a roofer will be on a rooftop, grab their phone, and coordinate an entire job through their go-to AI voice assistant."”— Santo J. LeoBOCA RATON, FL, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Pro Platforms, Inc. has unveiled MCP for ERP, a deployment of the Model Context Protocol enabling authorized AI assistants to access a building materials distributor’s ERP in real time. Sales teams and contractors can verify client-specific pricing, confirm stock, review past transactions, pull from saved templates, create estimates, and finalize orders using the assistant they already rely on: a messaging interface, voice command, email, or custom-built software.
MCP serves as the open standard linking AI assistants to business systems. MCP for ERP operates on the order management infrastructure Pro Platforms already runs in production, ensuring access aligns with the distributor’s current permissions and single sign-on. Distributors are not required to provide reps or contractors with API keys.
MCP access is currently in a private beta phase, with a full launch scheduled for December 2026 for active Pro Platforms distributors and their contractors, such as Richards Building Supply, SPEC Building Materials, Mid-Atlantic Roofing Supply, and others. Pro Platforms also maintains integrations with Infor, DMSI, and multiple Epicor versions.
The core issue: AI can calculate a material takeoff. It still cannot complete the purchase.
Sales reps at major distributors already leverage corporate AI tools to extract material needs from contractor blueprints. Converting those takeoffs into actual orders still depends on email. A rep sends the takeoff to an ERP order entry address; another system copies the data into the ERP; the rep forwards the confirmation back to the contractor. Manufacturers handling the same accounts run a separate workflow since they never access the distributor’s ERP.
Contractors are simultaneously developing their own tools and adopting AI assistants. These agents have no interest in emailing another AI. They seek direct integration to shorten the route from the job site to material delivery. Direct API access remains impractical. Distributors are hesitant to share credentials, and most ERPs lack the branch, catalog, and substitution context an agent needs to identify the correct product or a viable substitute independently.
MCP for ERP bridges this divide. When a material is unavailable at one branch but a substitute exists elsewhere, the assistant can evaluate project specs, location, client preferences, inventory, and budget in a single step, then execute the order. Tasks that once demanded years of product expertise and multiple phone calls now occur within one interaction.
“We are quickly moving toward a world where AI is constantly present,” said Santo J. Leo, founder and CEO of Pro Platforms. “Our view is that within months, not years, a roofer will be on a rooftop, grab their phone, and coordinate an entire job through their go-to AI voice assistant. The systems we support, for the contractor, the distributor, and the end customer, deliver the context, security, and control necessary to offer contractors, sales reps, and their digital agents real-time access to the information required to transact at the pace they expect today.”
For sales representatives
Pro Platforms already functions as the bridge between the contractor-facing platform and the distributor’s ERP. It manages the order processing layer and the single sign-on used by distributors in production. Exposing this layer via MCP allows an approved assistant, such as a corporate tool like Microsoft Copilot, to verify current stock and negotiated pricing, review open orders and historical data, use saved templates, compile quotes, and submit purchases. Responses appear in the same conversation. Access adheres to existing permissions and applies to contractor accounts on the platform, enabling organization-wide adoption without additional login steps.
For contractors
Contractors gain MCP access through Trellis, the distributor’s complimentary white-labeled field platform powered by Pro Platforms. A contractor’s assistant can verify stock and contract rates, monitor open orders, reorder from prior purchase orders, and use templates created by the contractor or published by the distributor.
Future access will go beyond ordering. Through MCP, a contractor’s assistant could utilize Trellis field service capabilities: estimation, invoicing, payment processing, financing, and scheduling. Registration links the contractor to the distributor’s ERP. The connection, including MCP, is managed through Gateway. The distributor retains control and can monitor activity whether the contractor uses the branded app or third-party software.
Every order flows into the distributor’s ERP
Orders generated via MCP by a sales rep, manufacturer rep, or contractor enter Gateway and are transferred into the ERP. A distributor can intervene in any ongoing order and apply the same approval, pricing, and fulfillment processes used for platform-based orders before they reach the ERP. One unified queue. Order entry time, phone interactions, and email chains decrease. ERP user licenses remain more efficient than the sales team would typically need. Email-based AI order submission becomes an option rather than the sole method.
