Student First Technologies secures second SOC 2 Type II report, boosting education data safeguards

–

A third-party review verified that security measures remained effective over a longer assessment timeframe as the company broadens its work with education choice initiatives

BLOOMINGTON, IN, UNITED STATES, October 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Student First Technologies (SFT), a top supplier of tech infrastructure for K-12 education funding initiatives, declared that it has finished its second SOC 2 Type II audit. This milestone builds upon the company's first SOC 2 Type II compliance achievement from June 2025 and shows that SFT’s internal safeguards have continued to perform successfully throughout a prolonged observation period while the organization grew its platform and customer roster.

“SOC 2 Type II compliance is more than a certification—it is a reflection of our commitment to protecting the financial and personal information entrusted to us by our partners and the families they serve," said Forrest Fowler, CEO of SFT. "Receiving a second independent report validates that our security, privacy, and operational controls continue to meet rigorous standards as we grow and support education choice programs across the country.”

Created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls 2) structure assesses how organizations handle data and uphold controls concerning security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. In contrast to a SOC 2 Type I review, which examines control design at one moment, a SOC 2 Type II audit looks at how well those controls function over a longer duration.

Finishing a second SOC 2 Type II audit gives state agencies, scholarship bodies, nonprofit collaborators, schools, and families added confidence that SFT upholds strong defenses against unauthorized entry, fraud, and data leaks while running dependable and secure systems.

Aprio, a nationally recognized advisory and accounting firm with deep expertise in evaluating compliance programs for fintech and software-as-a-service organizations, conducted the audit. Aprio's independent review verified that SFT’s controls worked effectively across the entire audit timeframe.

As education choice initiatives keep growing throughout the country, SFT is stepping up its backing for scholarship granting organizations (SGOs) getting ready for the expected rollout of the federal tax credit scholarship program in 2027. The company's tax credit scholarship platform functions under the same SOC 2 Type II standards that oversee its broader tech infrastructure, giving partners confidence that scholarship monies and related information are handled within a safe and compliant environment.

SFT’s full-service, white-label-ready modular platform, Theodore™, is built specifically for education funding initiatives and includes integrated identity verification, high-volume direct and donation fund intake and management, digital wallets, integrated payments including the TheoPay™ smart debit card with real-time item-level purchase adjudication, real-time reporting, and adjustable program controls.

State agencies, scholarship organizations or potential partners wanting to get a copy of SFT’s SOC 2 Type II attestation report can reach the company at compliance@studentfirsttech.com.
