GeoMe claims the main hurdle for most shoppers isn’t the store itself—it’s leaving the car. Curbside Pickup addresses the rain, the parking struggle, the children, and the illness.
“Every single one of those represents a customer who intended to make a purchase but never did”— Rami Smair, Founder and CEO of GeoMeFL, UNITED STATES, August 28, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A vehicle is parked roughly ninety feet from a retail entrance. On numerous days, for countless shoppers, that distance is the only thing that matters for the transaction. Whether a sale actually occurs has nothing to do with the price, the merchandise, or the service available inside.
GeoMe, the firm behind the Curbside Pickup system, notes that this aspect of retail is almost never measured. Companies pour resources into the interior of their stores. The decision that determines whether a customer even steps inside is made from behind the steering wheel—often a full block before reaching the store.
The reasons are mundane and happen every single day.
A toddler is asleep in the back seat, and no parent will wake that child for a gallon of milk. There are two children in car seats, and unbuckling both, walking them across the parking lot, and re-securing them turns a four-dollar coffee into a twenty-minute ordeal. Heavy rain or snow is falling, and the shopper is dressed for the car, not the trek. The person is finishing a night shift, arriving fresh from the gym, or wearing what one wears on a lazy Sunday—and simply doesn’t want to be noticed. They are recovering from surgery three weeks ago and can handle driving but not navigating a parking lot. They have a cold and lack the energy to walk inside, or they feel well enough to shop but prefer not to stand in a cramped store breathing near other people’s groceries.
Then there is parking, which kills more sales than any other factor. The lot doesn’t actually need to be full; the shopper only needs to think it will be. The decision to drive past is made on the approach, based on a guess, and the business never learns that the decision was even made.
"Every one of those is a customer who wanted to buy something and didn’t," said Rami Smair, Founder and CEO of GeoMe. "They don’t complain, because nothing went wrong. Nothing happened at all. That’s what makes it invisible. A business can have a great product, fair prices and staff who care, and still lose the sale to a sleeping kid and a full parking lot."
Curbside Pickup is designed exactly for that stretch of ground. Customers place orders and pay ahead through an app or any mobile browser. Geofencing detects the car upon arrival and alerts employees automatically, so the handoff begins without any action from the customer. The order is brought to the vehicle. No one unbuckles anyone, no one gets rained on, and the sleeping child remains asleep.
The automatic detection is the feature the company insists on most. Systems that require the customer to send a text upon arrival are inefficient.
"There’s a version of this that’s just about convenience, and that’s fine, but it undersells it," Smair said. "For a parent, it’s the difference between an errand being possible and not possible that day. For someone with the flu, it’s a genuinely contactless transaction, which matters to them and to everyone else in the store.
