MENA Arrivals to Istanbul Up 52% as Average Stay Shortens, Safaryar Data Shows

Istanbul Hotel API

In 2025, Safaryar Holidays handled 65,280 passengers from MENA, marking a 52% increase, while the average length of stay decreased from 4.3 to 3.8 nights across 257 partner hotels.

A shorter stay is not weaker demand, it is a different trip. MENA travelers now treat Istanbul as a repeatable short break rather than a once-in-a-decade holiday.”— Alper Tekin, Founder of Safaryar Holidays

Safaryar Holidays, a destination management firm headquartered in Istanbul and operating as a wholesale hotel supplier, announced its 2025 operational figures today. It reported serving 65,280 passengers from the Middle East and North Africa, a 52% rise compared to 2024, with the average lodging duration dropping from 4.3 to 3.8 nights.

These two metrics together indicate a fundamental change in how MENA tourists utilize Istanbul: increased frequency but shorter visits. Even though average stays contracted by roughly 12%, the total number of passenger nights managed by the company still climbed by approximately 34% year-on-year, from about 184,900 to 248,000.

Safaryar Holidays operates as a B2B DMC, providing contracted hotel rooms, ground transfers, MICE services, and inbound tour packages across Türkiye to global travel agencies. Established in Istanbul in 2018 and registered under Sindibad Turizm Ticaret Anonim Şirketi, the company collaborates with 370 partner agencies and holds direct contracts with 257 hotels in Istanbul, Ankara, and Van.

Demand for lodging was primarily in the upper-midscale category. Among 2025 passengers, 62% chose four-star hotels, 22% opted for five-star, and 16% selected three-star — roughly 40,500, 14,400, and 10,400 travelers respectively.

Data on ground transportation indicates that travelers are upgrading their experiences rather than their room categories. For five-star guests, 28% added a VIP transfer service, while 48% of four-star guests booked the company’s shared shuttle — approximately 4,000 and 19,400 passengers respectively.

"A shorter stay is not weaker demand, it is a different trip," said Alper Tekin of Safaryar Holidays. "MENA travelers are treating Istanbul as a repeatable short break rather than a once-in-a-decade holiday, and that changes how agencies should package the destination."

Briefer visits tighten operational schedules. Confirmations, transfers, and tour planning all shift closer to the arrival date, increasing the importance of instant confirmation over manual rate requests. Safaryar provides agencies with three connection methods — a B2B portal, an OTA-compatible XML and RESTful API, and an embeddable white-label booking engine — each offering real-time availability and instant confirmation across its contracted inventory.

The company offers customer support in five languages, including Arabic, Turkish, English, and Russian, and combines its own directly negotiated rates with inventory from top-tier global wholesalers. Partnership models include net rates, commissionable rates, allotment agreements, and credit-based accounts.

Additionally, Safaryar Holidays runs digital heritage initiatives covering Istanbul landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower, and Eyüp Sultan Mosque, helping travelers access destination information before they arrive.

Travel agencies may register for access with no obligation, and technology partners can request API documentation for direct integration.
