New patent strengthens Pilot Games’ intellectual property holdings and drives innovative player engagement in regulated charitable gaming
Pilot Gaming Systems, Inc., a creator of electronic pull-tab games and gaming solutions that serve charitable gaming organizations across the United States and lottery markets worldwide, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted U.S. Patent No. 12,705,949 B2, titled “Standard Animated Roll-Up for Electronic Pull-Tab Gaming.”
This newly granted patent covers methods for delivering an animated, staged prize-reveal experience within an electronic pull-tab game. When a player receives a winning ticket, the system can first show the winning payline symbols without instantly displaying the final prize amount, then run an animated “roll-up” sequence before revealing the payline symbols together with the actual prize awarded.
The patent also describes further variations of the technology, including roll-up presentations based on player choices made before play, Picture-in-Picture animation styles, extended roll-up sequences that incorporate simulated prize displays, and the use of watermarked symbols that can encode prize-related information without making that information instantly obvious to the player.
Pilot Games created this technology to offer more flexibility in how electronic pull-tab results and prizes can be shown across regulated charitable gaming markets. Since presentation and prize-disclosure rules can differ by jurisdiction, the technology provides a standardized framework that can be adjusted to meet various regulatory requirements while maintaining a consistent and engaging player experience.
For charitable gaming organizations, this flexibility can help facilitate the deployment of proven game concepts across multiple markets while minimizing the need to redesign core game experiences for individual jurisdictions.

This new patent further broadens Pilot Games’ intellectual property portfolio. In July 2025, Pilot Games was issued U.S. Patent No. 12,367,737, which covers its watermark technology for electronic pull-tab games. Together, these patents represent consecutive years of new U.S. patent protection for innovations that are integrated into Pilot Games’ electronic pull-tab platform.
