The strategy genre has a new contender that compresses epic warfare into a compact, tactical frame. Weavemarch, from Petrichor Games, is now open for Steam wishlists, promising a minimalist take on the RTS autobattler where the scale of conflict dwarfs the size of your base.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, October 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The core premise of Weavemarch revolves around constructing a small stronghold while dispatching massive forces across a medieval-themed battlefield. The objective is straightforward: march on the enemy castle and demolish it.

Gameplay hinges on placing troop spawners and defensive towers, then deciding which upgrades to prioritize as action unfolds across three distinct lanes. Since units engage in combat automatically, the player’s mental bandwidth is freed up for higher-level decision-making: reading opponent movements and anticipating the next optimal construction. Tactical variety comes from counters—splash damage can shred clustered infantry, anti-air emplacements neutralize flying threats, and siege engines crack open stubborn defensive lines. A single well-timed counter can flip a last-ditch stand into a full-scale offensive.

Players have five distinct factions at their disposal, each with a unique combat philosophy:

– Dragon Crown: Fields heavily armored knights, devastating siege weaponry, and dragons.

– Hedge Coven: Specializes in hexing foes, stealing beneficial effects, summoning gargoyles, and raising shadowy replicas of fallen enemies.

– Goblin Freeholds: Relies on swarming numbers and siege machinery kept operational by dedicated tinkerers.

– Wildwood Court: Uses root-like entanglements to slow enemies while nurturing woodland creatures that grow stronger over time.

– Mountain Abbey: Deploys massive stone golems to crush opposition and dispatches assassins to harass enemy backlines.

Beyond standard construction, players can erect buildings atop ancient foundations. This triggers the summoning of a boss unit, which can either rescue a lane that is on the verge of collapse or spearhead the final assault on the enemy base.

The game offers a robust suite of modes. Solo players can tackle 15 handcrafted scenarios, while those looking for a more traditional challenge can spar against AI opponents or team up with friends in cooperative matches against the computer. For competitive players, matches are designed to last between 10 and 20 minutes, supporting 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 formats. These battles can be fought online or over a local area network (LAN).

Weavemarch is slated for release on Steam shortly. Interested players can add it to their wishlist now at:

Why it matters: In a market saturated with hyper-realistic graphics and complex macro-management, Weavemarch strips the genre down to its strategic essence, offering a faster, more accessible entry point. Its emphasis on counterplay and short, decisive matches could appeal to players seeking a competitive RTS experience that fits into a busy schedule.
