Wecom Fiber has named Kevin Stamey as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. In this capacity, Stamey will oversee design and engineering, construction delivery, and execution of the BEAD program as the organization advances one of Arizona’s most substantial broadband deployment initiatives.

Stamey brings extensive experience in building and scaling fiber networks over multiple decades. Most recently, while serving as Vice President of West Coast Operations at Astound, he directed construction, engineering, and field operations during a phase of accelerated growth and was instrumental in planning and securing major BEAD funding along with other large grant-supported projects. That background directly matches the challenges ahead at Wecom Fiber.

Wecom Fiber is undertaking an aggressive expansion across an eight-county territory in northern and western Arizona, financed through a mix of private investment and grant programs. The company is committing substantial private capital to construct fiber in competitive markets such as Flagstaff, Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Cottonwood, while its grant-backed initiative—anchored by roughly $196 million in BEAD funding, the largest such award in the state—brings high-speed fiber to around 66,000 homes and businesses in underserved and rural areas. With construction already active in additional markets across its eight-county footprint, the company anticipates connecting more communities in the coming months. As COO, Stamey will lead the operational team responsible for translating that strategy into fiber deployed in the ground and customers brought online.

“Kevin is a proven operator who knows how to build fiber networks at scale and on standard,” said Rachel Solomon, Chief Executive Officer of Wecom Fiber. “As we accelerate one of the largest broadband buildouts in Arizona, his leadership across construction, engineering, and field operations will be central to delivering for the communities we serve.”

“Wecom Fiber is taking on one of the most important broadband builds in the state, and doing it with a genuine commitment to the communities it serves,” said Stamey. “I am excited to join the team and help deliver reliable, high-speed fiber to the homes and businesses that need it most.”
