CallRadius Adds HIPAA-Compliant Call Tracking for Healthcare LSA Ads via CallRail

CallRadius now configures CallRail call tracking, protected by a business associate agreement, for dental and medical practices using LSA advertising.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — CallRadius, a managed Google Local Services Ads (LSA) provider headquartered in Scottsdale, now implements call tracking for dentists, chiropractors, physical therapists, and other healthcare organizations advertising through LSA. The tracking is powered by CallRail, the call tracking and analytics firm, through its Healthcare tier. According to CallRail, every Healthcare plan comes with a business associate agreement (BAA), the contract mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) before a vendor can handle patient data on behalf of a provider.

The healthcare LSA void

Local Services Ads operate on a per-lead pricing model, and in most categories, Google records the calls it generates so advertisers can listen to each one. Healthcare stands apart. Google's Local Services Ads help center notes that "call recordings and messages aren't available for health care verticals or tax specialists," and that "lead credits aren't available for health care verticals."

Consequently, a dental or medical practice pays for charged leads without any recording to listen to and receives no automated lead credit if a lead proves invalid. In the absence of recordings, a practice has no straightforward method to determine whether charged calls originated from new patients, existing patients, wrong numbers, or telemarketers, nor how front-desk staff managed each call.

"Healthcare is one of the few LSA categories where a practice pays for leads and cannot hear a single one of those calls," said Doug Brown, founder of CallRadius. "Call tracking on a HIPAA healthcare plan gives a practice back the ability to see which calls were real new patients, without moving patient information outside a protected system."

Operational details

– CallRadius assigns a CallRail tracking number to the practice and integrates it into the practice's Local Services Ad.
– Calls are captured, accompanied by a recording disclosure, and saved in the practice's CallRail Healthcare account, which falls under CallRail's business associate agreement.
– CallRail's Healthcare plan offers call recording, transcripts, and call scoring.
– A CallRadius LSA manager, operating under a business associate agreement with the practice, cross-references the leads Google billed against the calls the practice actually received, and highlights missed calls and front-desk trends that cost the practice new patients.

"A practice can't fix what it can't hear," Brown said. "Tracking every LSA call shows a practice where the advertising budget is going and where new patients are being lost."

Key considerations for healthcare advertisers

HIPAA does not provide government approval or certification for software. Compliance hinges on signed agreements and the safeguards each company implements. CallRadius advises that any practice evaluating call tracking verify four items:

1. The call tracking vendor has signed a business associate agreement with the practice.
2. Every entity that listens to or reviews patient calls, including the marketing agency, has signed one as well.
3. Callers are informed of recording via a disclosure. Some states require consent from all parties on a recorded call.
4. Call recordings and caller details are not transferred into tools beyond those agreements, such as spreadsheets, CRMs, or ad platforms.
