Sign-ups are now being accepted for the Simandou Mining Summit, hosted by Guinea’s government to advance the Simandou 2040 initiative and achieve economic sovereignty via the mining sector.
Under the Simandou 2040 Programme, mining will act as the engine for economic sovereignty.”— Djiba Diakité, Minister-Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of GuineaCONAKRY, GUINEA, August 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Enrollment is now open for the first-ever Simandou Mining Summit, put together by the Government of Guinea, gathering governments, investors, mining firms, financial entities, and industrial leaders to take part in the country’s economic shift.
Held in Conakry from 11 to 14 November 2026, this summit will aid in executing the Simandou 2040 Programme, assembling public and private sector leaders tasked with realizing Guinea’s long-range development goals.
Operating under the banner “Mining as a Catalyst for Economic Sovereigntyˮ, the summit showcases Guinea’s goal of transforming from a raw material exporter into a hub for industrialization, infrastructure growth, local value creation, and sustainable investment. It will link policy to capital, uniting decision-makers capable of turning national ambitions into partnerships and project execution.
Mining as a Catalyst for Economic Sovereignty
"The Simandou mega-project signifies a pivotal shift in the scope and ambition of Guinea’s development, guided by the President of the Republic, H.E. Mamadi Doumbouya,ˮ stated Djiba Diakité, Minister-Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of Guinea and Chair of the Simandou Strategic Committee.
"For many years, Guinea has been known for the size of its mineral wealth. Our goal now is to be acknowledged for what we create from those resources. As part of the Simandou 2040 Programme, the mining industry will become the driver of our economic sovereignty, fostering skilled human capital, services, infrastructure, industries, quality jobs, and lasting opportunities that will serve current and future Guinean citizens."
The Simandou 2040 Programme encompasses 122 strategic undertakings spanning mining, transportation, energy, manufacturing, logistics, technology, education, agriculture, and workforce training. Central to this is the Simandou project, backed by the TransGuinéen railway and deep-water port infrastructure, laying the groundwork for industrial growth and economic variety.
From mineral wealth to national value
Guinea possesses a number of the globe’s biggest iron ore and bauxite reserves, along with notable gold and diamond deposits. Through Simandou 2040, the government intends to make these assets a basis for infrastructure, industrial expansion, local enterprise, and skilled employment.
"Guinea’s resources need to form the bedrock of a varied, productive, and sustainable economy," remarked Bouna Sylla, Minister of Mines and Geology.
"Our aim is to turn mineral wealth into infrastructure, industrial capability, jobs, expertise, and prospects for Guinean businesses. Guinea is presenting itself as a long-term destination for responsible investment, not merely as a source of raw materials. The vision of His Excellency Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic, is the domestic processing of mining products to establish more extensive value chains."
Four days focused on investment and delivery
This four-day agenda will feature ministerial discussions, executive panels, investor gatherings, technical sessions, project showcases, and organized business meetings.
Anticipated attendance includes more than 1,000 senior representatives, 75 international speakers, and over 3,000 pre-scheduled business appointments. The schedule will tackle industrialization, infrastructure, worldwide mineral markets, investment and finance, local content, workforce training, downstream processing, technology, innovation, and environmental and social governance (ESG).
The summit kicks off on 11 November with an invitation-only event on Kassa Island, a former bauxite mining site now being revitalized, representing Guinea’s move from extraction to restoration and industrial advancement.
On 12 and 13 November at the Radisson Blu, the schedule will include ministerial dialogues, executive roundtables, investor forums, technical sessions, and business meetings. On the last day, delegates can, by special invitation, tour mining infrastructure assets, such as facilities linked to Compagnie du TransGuinéen.
Direct access to Guinea’s investment ecosystem
Tailored for high-level decision-makers from government, industry, and finance, this summit will offer entry to Guinea’s public bodies, project developers, and mining operators, while highlighting opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, energy, construction, manufacturing, services, and technology.
"Guinea is ready for business," declared Namory Camara, Chief Executive Officer of the Guinea Development Board (GDB). "Our focus is to offer investors greater clarity, reinforced institutional backing, and a straightforward route from first contact to effective project completion."
Industry supporting Guinea’s transformation
The summit is backed by Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée and Nimba Mining Company, founding partners of the Simandou Mining Summit, highlighting their dedication to responsible growth and sustained investment.

The summit will offer a vital platform to rally the partners, know-how, and capital needed to carry out transformative projects for Guinea.ˮ
