Agreement aims to expand domestic AI capacity in response to rising demand for Australian-hosted infrastructure

SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, August 25, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Australian sovereign AI infrastructure company SCX.ai and worldwide AI data intelligence firm DDN have officially unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration designed to grow and speed up the country’s most extensive sovereign AI inferencing cloud. This collaboration merges SCX’s ASIC-powered infrastructure with DDN’s Infinia data intelligence platform. The resulting offering gives Australian businesses, public sector bodies, and research organizations a protected, high-speed, multi-tenant AI factory aimed at boosting inference performance and reducing cost per token, all while keeping models, workloads, and data confined to Australian borders.
The news arrives just days after SCX.ai’s stock market debut on the Australian Securities Exchange on 21 August, which came after a fully underwritten $40 million initial public offering. This listing makes SCX.ai the first ASX-listed company focused exclusively on sovereign AI inference infrastructure.
SCX.ai enters the public arena with solid commercial traction. At the conclusion of July, contracted annual recurring revenue stood at $6.5 million, representing a 20.9% increase compared to May. The platform currently counts more than 400 active users.
Following the successful activation of SCX’s first sovereign AI node at the Equinix SY5 data center in Sydney, the incorporation of DDN Infinia ensures the underlying data infrastructure can keep up with extreme concurrency and high-throughput inferencing needs.
With sub-millisecond latency and up to 27 times quicker KV cache loading, Infinia removes I/O bottlenecks and maximizes hardware efficiency—giving organizations the ability to handle extensive context windows and agentic AI operations rapidly, without sacrificing speed, data security, or regulatory adherence.

The shared infrastructure additionally tackles a key obstacle in the worldwide AI boom: the electricity and cooling requirements needed to sustain expanding compute capacity. SCX.ai’s setup relies on purpose-built SambaNova AI processors and is engineered to derive substantially more AI compute from the energy and space already available within current commercial data centers. The design employs air cooling, sidestepping the massive water consumption typical of many conventional AI data center cooling methods.
Pre-listing tests released by SCX.ai indicated that its SambaNova-based platform achieves roughly 2.5x to 5.6x better performance per watt compared to GPU-based systems across specific stable inference tasks, with results varying based on the model and hardware setup tested.

The additional cloud capacity will enable the deployment of tailored enterprise applications, along with SCX.ai’s Project MAGPiE, a sovereign large language model fine-tuned specifically for Australia’s cultural and business landscape.
SCX.ai’s initial node at Equinix SY5 in Sydney is now live, and the company is fast-tracking the rollout of Node 2, which is slated to become operational by the end of 2026. SCX.ai is also advancing plans for further nodes as it works toward establishing a nationwide sovereign AI inference network.
