Since developer Rockstar Games announced a late-2026 release window, fraudulent GTA 6 pre-order pages, counterfeit mobile applications, and bogus sites imitating legitimate game download platforms have appeared online.
The total number of impacted users remains unknown, but that figure is clearly climbing, as hackers will keep targeting Grand Theft Auto players up until launch and most likely well after.
Even Rockstar Games itself has not been spared. Earlier this year, the infamous hacker group ShinyHunters claimed it had infiltrated the developer’s networks. The collective demanded a ransom in exchange for withholding the stolen data.
Rockstar minimized the breach’s significance, explaining that the intrusion happened at a third-party vendor. The compromised information appeared to involve corporate materials rather than private user details.
