CanFish operates as a standalone smart fishing brand with its own roadmap, customer base, and community, while still leveraging CHASING’s background in underwater robotics, engineering, and product design. This arrangement lets CanFish concentrate on real fishing challenges while tapping into the technical strengths behind CHASING’s underwater technology ventures.
A Fishing Problem Came First
CanFish didn’t start out trying to put another electronic gadget on the market. Instead, it began with a familiar frustration: what happens on a cast often tells anglers less than they think.
A lure might come back without a fish even though one followed it. A quiet stretch could hide activity the angler never noticed. Fishermen also wonder: What does the underwater terrain look like? Is there any visible movement nearby? Is the current location worth staying on?
CanFish launched F1 in 2020 as its first smart fishing product and an early attempt at underwater observation. That effort established a principle the brand still follows: technology should help anglers learn more about the fishing process, not replace the person holding the rod.

Founded in 2016, CHASING spent a decade refining underwater robotics and related technologies for both consumer and professional markets. Its work covers underwater reliability, imaging, control, and navigation across a range of water environments.
CanFish pulls from relevant parts of that experience based on what each fishing product needs. For underwater imaging, this includes lighting choices, lens and sensor pairing, and image processing in murky water. Product reliability is built around intended depth, whether it’s for fresh or saltwater, and the physical demands of fishing. Intelligent features may draw on experience with control algorithms, navigation, sonar integration, or AI-based recognition.
The aim is not to replicate the same technology in every product. Different CanFish models use different combinations of capabilities depending on the specific fishing problem they’re designed to solve. From F1 to a Broader Smart Fishing Portfolio
Over time, CanFish has expanded the ways underwater information can support fishing.
After F1 in 2020, CanFish F1 Pro followed in 2022 with a rotatable camera and motorized depth control. In 2023, CanFish CF1 introduced castable live underwater viewing, letting anglers inspect visible conditions while actively fishing.
In 2024, CHASING CanFish Fishing CamX tackled a different challenge. Built for lure fishing, Fishing CamX records underwater footage for later review rather than streaming live video while it’s submerged. Anglers can study how their lure moved and whether fish interacted with it after the session, catching follows, missed strikes, and other moments they may never have felt through the rod.
In 2025, CanFish upgraded CF1 with AI-driven fish arrival alerts. Under the right conditions, the underwater camera can detect visible fish activity and push a notification through the app.
CanFish is also developing CanFish F2, a next-generation smart fishing system engineered to combine sonar, underwater vision, AI features, and navigation.
