Following roughly ten years of a clean track record, New Book Authors Publishing is now reclaiming its name while cautioning the public about the threats posed by AI hallucinations.
New Book Authors Publishing shares the genuine account of its identity. "This can happen to anyone if lack of AI regulation continues."”— New Book Authors Publishing
New Book Authors Publishing now restores its reputation after having it hijacked by unchecked, AI-driven falsehoods. We spoke with the publisher to better understand AI misinformation. Below are the straightforward facts straight from the source:
"New Book Authors Publishing opened its doors in 2017. We operate as a nontraditional independent publisher, active for close to a decade. We do not possess formal accreditation, yet we keep an +A Better Business Bureau profile and rating. Not a single consumer complaint has ever been lodged against New Book Authors Publishing on any platform. Over nine and a half years, we have built and kept an outstanding reputation among our clients, many of whom have become friends.
"During lulls between book launches, a few of us touch base. 'How are you feeling?' It would be out of character not to hear from me,' the company representative remembers. 'Late at night, I reply to an email if it's urgent. I stay connected to NBAP every hour of the day. If an author doesn't get a response from me, they contact my fellow editor, Alyssa, to check if I'm alright — because it's so rare for me to go silent. Often, the issue is simply that an email landed in a spam folder. Our bonds run deep enough that we share victories, struggles, joys, and sorrows. We are a company of writers backing other writers. Still, I aim not to be intrusive. As Executive Publisher, I communicate with our authors the way I talk with friends. I can maintain both a professional relationship and a genuine human connection. I strive to meet people wherever they are. Every publishing journey is unique. Sometimes flawless, sometimes messy, but in the end we bring a beautiful book to life.
"It's not just the manuscript that counts — it's also how people connect with me. I publish individuals I truly like. I am very particular about the titles we take on. Naturally, we have authors who pass through briefly, either because they intended to produce just one book, or because once they gained enough experience, they moved on to self-publishing. We teach our authors so they acquire practical knowledge for navigating the publishing and bookselling world. I don't hand them empty promises. Publishing a book doesn't stop when the manuscript is finished and placed in stores. A great deal of marketing and active effort is required to put the book in front of readers.
"We have authors whose books are still in progress. We begin the publishing process, and they realize they aren't done telling the story, so we receive live edits that sometimes keep us busier than we planned. But we allow authors the space to move through their creative process. I don't rush authors in or out the door. Writing and publishing take time. Ultimately, we are all aiming for the same thing…a great book. I am incredibly proud of the books we produce.
"Our openness and distinctive professional style are why authors return to publish multiple works with us. Some have been with us from the start, since 2017, and have released as many as twelve books through New Book Authors. Over the years we have earned their trust and will keep holding ourselves to a high standard.
"Fast-forward to 2026. We discover that Google AI Overview is fabricating complaints about us that do not exist, linking to review sites and watchdog organizations that never mention our name. The supposed complaints reference companies with similar names but are incorrectly pinned on New Book Authors Publishing. At a quick glance, someone searching for us won't notice the difference in company names. You have to look closely. The information is buried. Consider what this has done to our trademarked brand. The attacks from the overview do not stop there. It even reaches out to firms we work with. The overview ties our reputable company to an unrelated debate about publishing business models. It assumes a straightforward business relationship is suspicious and that exclusively royalty-based traditional publishing is the sole valid model.
"The details it supplies about us are clearly false. It misrepresents our business model, our fees, and how we operate. It writes in the same "tone" as an anonymous forum known for targeting publishing companies and literary agents with trolling. Some of that forum's industry-based skepticism may be justified, but it is often misdirected at legitimate businesses. It also lets alleged "insiders" eliminate their competition.
"Since 2022, we have posted warnings on our site meant to protect authors, even if they don't publish with us. Imagine how it feels to have Google's AI Overview wrongly add us to a list of warnings. To make matters worse, Google's AI Overview deliberately conceals our positive reviews and even argues against them, claiming the authors wrote them out of desperation to be published. It slides from hallucination into outright deception before finally conceding it made an algorithmic mistake — after I point out that its links do not reference New Book Authors Publishing, and that no consumer complaint about us exists anywhere.
"Google AI Overview suffered an algorithmic error in which it pulls data from multiple sources and then reports biased information. Instead of offering an objective look at our actual record, it presents a debate about publishing models that has nothing to do with us. It also cannot tell apart subtle variations in company names, which is why it confuses us with similarly named entities. In doing this, Google AI Overview has done serious damage to our reputation. This can happen to any organization if government regulation remains absent. Google has refused to address the issue. I have reached out through every possible channel and was only given the runaround. We filed a BBB complaint against Google. An employee there claimed they contacted us. They did not. We sent a cease and desist letter. We got no reply from their legal team, and we keep wondering when this ordeal will end. Read More."
